Home Insurance Louisiana
Could you imagine a fire occurring in your home? It’s a risk that too few residents take seriously. After all, it’s not every day that you see a house fire, or know someone personally who been affected by one. Yet fire is one of the major risks and according to the Office of the Louisiana State Fire Marshall, 7 people have died in fires this Christmas holiday season. While it’s important to have home insurance, Louisiana residents should take the threat of fire very seriously. The risk of death or injury can be reduced with precautionary measures.
1. Smoke alarms: there is no doubt that working smoke alarms have saved many lives in recent years.
2. Fire extinguishers and fire blankets: these are relatively inexpensive appliances and in certain circumstances can prevent a small fire from getting out of control.
3. Evacuation plan: everyone in your household should know what to do and how to evacuate safely if they wake to a fire in the home.
4. Space heaters: these devices are often implicated in house fires. Don’t leave them switched on overnight or when nobody is present in the room, and don’t drape clothes over or very close to a heater to dry.
Put personal safety high on your priority list – possessions can be replaced with the aid of home insurance. Louisiana residents can’t be.
